Popcorn on the stove is a personal favorite of mine. Who doesn’t like popcorn? No matter if you make it for the movies or just a quick bite at home, popcorn makes for the perfect snack. Unfortunately, buying microwave popcorn can get kind of pricey over time, so Dumbed Down Food is here to give you the best alternative to microwaved popcorn, and one that frankly tastes better and is much healthier for you.
- Vegetable Oil
- Popcorn Kernels
- Butter (Optional)
- Pull out a big pot and pour enough oil to cover the bottom of the pot. The amount you add will impact both the taste (+oil) and the health (-oil).
- Add enough kernels to cover the bottom of the pan, a few extra won’t hurt.
- Place the pot on medium high heat. Cover with lid.
- Heat until you hear 2-3 sec. pass between popping. Popcorn will be hot, dump into a separate bowl and salt to taste. Add melted butter if you’re so inclined.
(DDF Tip- If you don’t use a lid you will be splattered by flying popcorn and hot oil. Don’t be dumb.)
