Even the healthiest of college students have a hard time avoiding snack foods. The way I see it, if you can’t avoid snacks, figure out a way to conquer them on your own. Many of our recipes are built on this principle. Today, we’re trying to replace classic potato chips with an easy oven-baked potato chip recipe. The final product is the perfect blend of crispy outsides and thick insides. You’ll love the taste!
Now, we won’t exactly be replacing cheetoes with this baked potato chip recipe, but you’ll be getting a great chip for snacking or as a side with your favorite meal. I think you’ll be surprised with how fun and easy this baked potato chip recipe is to prepare.
Be sure to let us know what you paired this with in the comments! We always love new suggestions.
- 1 Large Potato
- Olive Oil
- Butter (optional)
- Sea Salt
- Pre-heat oven to 450F.
- Slice potato into thin chips, without going more than ¾ of the way through the potato. Do not slice all the way through the potato.
- Place sliced potato on a lined baking sheet, slice-side up.
- Lightly drizzle olive oil and melted butter (the butter is optional but helps with flavor) over the potato so that it is covered. Sprinkle salt across potato.
- Bake for 50 minutes or until golden brown.
Your DIY potato chip is now ripe for eating! I enjoy it as is, but feel free to top it with cheese, sour cream or green onions.
